LINEAR DIAPHRAGM AND PISTON

Linear pumps use either diaphragms or pistons to compress air. These units are very quiet and energy efficient. They are designed for continuous duty and should run 24/7. The difference between brands of the linear air pumps is mainly has to do with quality. The Hiblow brand units are among the best quality available on the market today. The Cyclone, Secoh, and Alita are more economincal versions but do not have the lifespan of the aforementioned units.

ROTARY VANE COMPRESSORS

The Gast Rotary Vane air pumps use carbon vanes that spin in circular motion to compress air. They are powered by an AC electric motor. These units can be very durable but they require about 4 times the electrical operating cost of the linear air pumps to run 24/7. They also are much louder than the linear air pumps units.

REGENERATIVE BLOWERS

Regenerative Blowers are capable of providing high volume of air flow at very low pressure. These types of blowers are commonly used on older Hoot system, Fast systems, and Bio-Microbics systems. Normally these units are ran on a timer and do not run continuously.
