HIBLOW AIR PUMP MAINTENANCE
Hiblow air pumps require very little routine maintenance. The air pump have an air filter that needs to be cleaned every 6 months, and the diaphragms usually need to be replaced every 3-6 years. Septic Solutions has all of the Genuine Factory Certified parts you may need to keep your Hiblow air pump in working order.
AIR FILTER
On the top of every Hiblow air pump is an air filter that prevents the pump from sucking in dust and debris. It is recommended by Hiblow to clean these air filters at least every 6 months and replace the air filter once per year. This regular maintenance can ensure a long life out of your Hiblow air pump.
The air filter can be cleaned using compressed air to blow out the dust, or by soaking the filter in soapy water. Please be sure the filter is fully dry before placing it back into the air pump.
DIAPHRAGMS
The diaphragms are the main wear component within the air pump mechanism. The rubber diaphragms will typically have a lifespan of around 3-6 years depending on the application and ambient environment in which the pump is installed.
The Hiblow pumps have a safety shutoff mechanism that turns the pump off when the diaphragms fail. This protects the other components of the pump and provides a high probability that a diaphragm replacement kit will be all that is needed to get the pump up and running.
We recommend replacing the diaphragms once they fail. If the pump is over 10 years old, we recommend considering a complete replacement air pump as the typical life of the motor assembly is around 10-15 years.
MAGNETIC ROD BLOCK
The magnetic rod block is the only moving part in the air pump, which shuttles back and forth between the diaphragms on each end. If this block is broken or has signs of wear on either side then it should be replaced. This part is less likely to need to be replaced in comparison to the diaphragms, but it should be checked for wear or damage each time a diaphragm replacement is done.
OTHER PARTS
While the air filters and diaphragms are the main components required for regular maintenance of the Hiblow air pumps, we also have available many other miscellaneous components that you may require under certain circumstances:
- Filter Gaskets - Each pump has a gasket around the filter lid called the Filter Gasket which seals the top filter cover to the aluminum pump housing.
- Base Gaskets - Each pump has a gasket around the base which seals the air tank and the top cover of the aluminum pump housing to the base.
- L-Tubes - Each pump has a set of two L-Tubes which move the compressed air from the diaphragms down into the air tank on each end.
- SP Switch - The SP switch is the mechanism that will cut power to the pump when the diaphragms fail.
- Rubber Coupling - We have both a rubber 90 degree elbow or straight connection fitting designed to connect your airline to the Hiblow pump
